Bag Day Book Haul

Sunday was Bag Day at my library’s Summer Used Book Sale. (Depending on the size of your bag, you pay $2, $3, or $5 for as many books as you can fit in there!)

As I’ve mentioned before, my husband and I have a greater than average enthusiasm for bag day. We never miss it. “If it looks good, toss it in” is our motto!

There was one big difference between this sale and the others: I volunteered to help at the sale. (Yes, I got a sneak peek before the doors opened, and yes it was glorious.)

I was constantly moving during my four hour shift, moving books up from the floor to the tables, attempting to keep the sections organized, and chatting with shoppers. It was a ton of fun!

The thing about gathering a stack of books over such a long period of time is that by the time I got home, I could hardly remember what was in my bag!

Here’s my haul:

That’s 44 books for $6!

Here’s a breakdown.

The Cuckoo’s Calling and Labor Day are for my mom. They are both fantastic!

I only ended up with one book I already owned. *sigh* I grabbed Jhumpa Lahiri’s Unaccustomed Earth, thinking it was the one books of hers I don’t have. I do in fact have a copy (now two) and still need to get The Lowland. Oh the perils of being a book hoarder.

When I saw this copy of Lamb by Christopher Moore, I whooped out loud. It’s so cool!

The other 40 books cover a wide range of genres and topics. I found a bunch of novels from my TBR List  and  replaced my paperback copy of A Prayer For Owen Meany with a nice hardcover. I picked up a few books while muttering “I know I’ve heard of this one…”

I found a few non-fiction I’ve been interested in for a while. Elizabeth Smart‘s memoir is one I come across often and have always passed, but finally decided it will probably be super interesting. (The bottom one in this stack is Sue Klebold‘s memoir, A Mother’s Reckoning.)

And here’s my husband’s haul, an eclectic mix of fiction, classics, non-fiction, and Do It Yourself books!

So what do you think of my haul? Have you read any of these books?

I love your haul. I’ve had many of these on my tbr for awhile. How to Build A Girl almost went into my 20 books of summer stacks! Maybe this fall we can read it together.
