Last Saturday, my book club met via Zoom to discuss The Plot. I found discussion questions on the author’s website but didn’t find them all very useful for our group, so I came up with some of my own.

Here are the ones that worked best for us. I hope your club can use them. If you do, please let me know and feel free to add your own in the comments.

Book Club Discussion Questions for The Plot by Jean Hanff Korelitz

1. Do you think Jake stole the plot from Evan?
2. Do you think writing is a natural talent, or can it be taught?
3. Does anyone have the right to tell someone else’s story?
4. Do you think Jake would have still used the plot if he knew where it came from?
5. Was it obvious to you that Anna was involve somehow? What did you think when she first showed up in the story?
6. Did you find the novel predictable and if so did that bother you? Do you think the author intended for some parts to be predictable?
7. Discuss how the cover image fits into the story.
8. What did you think about the ending? Were you surprised?
