Five Things Friday April 3, 2020
Hello and welcome to another Social Distancing Edition of Five Things Friday! I hope you and your families are all staying safe.
Here’s a rundown of what I’ve been up to.
1. Things that made me happy this week.
—->Watching a live interview with Elizabeth Gilbert as part of a TEDConnects series. Her calm straightforward demeanor is such a comfort right now. My favorite lines she said that I wrote down are, “Creativity doesn’t have to be so literal right now.” and “Love doesn’t give advice.”
—-> My husband made pita and falafel from scratch because he knows it’s something I love. They were beautiful and freaking delicious.
2. Things I read this week.
—-> Last week, I mentioned my new favorite romance novel, The Friend Zone by Abby Jimenez. This week, I read an advanced copy of the second book in the series, The Happy Ever After Playlist (expected publication date April 14, 2020) and liked it even more. It’s the first romance novel I’ve ever given 5 Stars! Though I wouldn’t have if I hadn’t read the other book first, so you should definitely do that!
—->I listened to Other People’s Houses by Abbi Waxman, and highly recommend it. It’s a drama about a neighborhood of closely intertwined families. It’s a juicy, compelling read. Anything of Waxman’s is fun – she is skilled at capturing the little things about human nature in her characters.
3. Some things I did offline this week.
—–>I’ve been feeling the itch to start cross stitching again so I’ve been looking through my supplies and patterns.
—-> I’ve been walking my little dog most afternoons to get out into the sunshine (hopefully) or at least fresh air! Here he is with some chalk art we discovered.
4. Things I’m grateful for this week.
My book club met on Zoom and had a great time.
Meeting online with my writing partner gave me a motivation boost I desperately needed!
I launched a mini-reading challenge through this blog, and it was well received.
We are still able to eat spaghetti squash we harvested from our garden in September.
5. Question of the week: Are you able to establish a routine for your days at home?
Tell me a thing or two that made you happy this week!
