Five Things Friday December 20, 2019
Happy Holidays and happy Friday!
Here’s my week in review.
1. Something that made me happy this week.
I had my last meeting of the year with my writing partner, Lisa. We started meeting back in the spring, to work on our memoirs together and serve as accountability partners. I never imagined how it would deepen our friendship, and am so grateful for the time we spend brainstorming and supporting each other. Lisa’s blog, Relentlessly Looking For Beauty, is super inspiring so check it out!
2. Something I’m reading this week.
I’m currently reading/listening to The Friend by Sigrid Nunez. It’s not exactly a light holiday season read, and I’m glad it’s short! It’s a beautiful exploration of grief and love in regard to friendships and pets. The book is written as an unnamed woman speaks directly to her recently deceased best friend, and chronicles her life without him as she’s come to own his dog.
3. Something I did offline this week.
I’ve done most of my Christmas shopping online this year, or while helping my dad get his done locally. No matter what store we’re in, we both like to walk through the aisles of holiday decorations. I spotted this fun tree ornament, made to look like Santa is stuck in the tree. I was so close to buying it but resisted!
4. Photo of the week.
My little dog is still getting used to sharing my lap with the new kitten, it’s pretty funny sometimes!
5. Something I’m looking forward to next week.
Of course this is obvious, I’m looking forward to Christmas! We travel to visit my in-laws and it’s a house-full. What I am looking forward to most is a change of scenery, and a few days to read and write without any real responsibilities.
Tell me a thing or two that made you happy this week! What are your holiday plans?
