Five Things Friday January 24, 2020
Happy Friday! We’re still in the midst of a mild winter here in South West Montana, how is it in your neck of the woods?
Here’s my week in review:
1. Something that made me happy this week.
I love live sports but it isn’t my husband’s thing. I’m grateful for his youngest sister, who I have a lot in common with. We went to a Montana State University men’s basketball game last weekend and had a blast!
2. Something I’m reading this week.
Earlier this month, I took David Sedaris’ MasterClass. He’s one of my earliest and most significant writing inspirations so it was a big deal for me! During the course he talks about Otessa Moshfegh’s novel Eileen, and give examples as two why he thinks her writing is great. The novel is also on his recommended reading list of 21 books that came in the course workbook. I started reading Eileen this week and am loving it. If I hadn’t heard what David had to say about it first, I might not have picked up on all the dark humor. I’ve read one of Moshfegh’s other novels and can attest that her writing style is unique!
3. Something I did offline this week.
My local book club met to discuss Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb. I think it was our best meeting yet! We shared personal stories about our own experiences with therapy and it was a powerful discussion.
4. Photo of the week.
My library book haul from this week. I may have gone a bit overboard…
5. Something I’m looking forward to next week.
I have a date with one of my besties to hit up a thrift shop I haven’t been to before!
Tell me a thing or two that made you happy this week!
