Five Things Friday May 15, 2020
I can’t believe it’s Friday again already. These weeks of social distancing have been flying by, even though some days have felt loooong.
Here’s what I’ve been up to this week.
1. Some things that made me happy this week.
—-> Today is my 5th wedding anniversary. This is one of my favorite photos from that day, when we were signing the marriage certificate with our friend Josh, who performed the ceremony.
—-> I finished the desk refinishing project I mentioned last week and got it moved into my office. That felt great!
—->This meme has brought me a lot of joy since I first saw it a few days ago. I love The Muppets!
2. Some things I read this week.
—-> I’m almost finished with Sarah Ramey’s memoir that I mentioned last week. It’s been a slow read because it’s so intense and heavy, but it’s brilliantly written, darkly funny, and I can’t recommend it enough for all women, especially those who have struggled to seek the health care they deserve.
—-> I flew through A Good Neighborhood by Therese Anne Folwer this week. It’s about two neighboring families, whose teenage children fall in love, a black boy and a white girl. The author explores everything about race, class, and privilege that I could imagine. The story is a slow burn, the tension building gradually from the first page.
3. Some things I did offline this week.
—-> I tested out a new cookbook I was sent to review. I made so many donuts, I was giving them away to family and our neighbors!
—-> Even though it was dreary a lot again this week, my husband and I got in a 16 mile bike ride on Wednesday.
4. Some things I’m grateful for this week.
Friends and family who have made us cloth face masks.
Funny texts from friends.
Books that make me think and feel.
Listening to music from my youth.
Finishing an essay to submit to a contest.
5. Some things I’m looking forward to.
Riding my new bike on sunny days.
This month’s book club meeting, the author will be joining us for the first time ever!
Shopping at Goodwill again.
