Five Things Friday October 2, 2020
Hello and welcome to October! You may have noticed I didn’t post an update last Friday. Earlier in the week, I suddenly lost my young cat Marigold and was bogged down by grief all week.
But I’m here now, posting today, to help me focus on the joyful things that have been happening in my life despite the sadness.
Here’s what I’ve been up to this week:
Something that made me happy this week
My 2021 Passion Planner arrived this week. I’m eager to think forward to the fresh start of a new year. I love paging through a blank planner and considering all the possibilities to come.
Something I read this week
I’m almost finished with The Duchess War by Courtney Milan. Each month, I play Bookish First’s Book Bingo on Instagram. I needed to read a friend to pick a book for me so I asked my pal Maria and this is what she chose.
I wasn’t thrilled because I generally don’t enjoy historical romance as much as contemporary, but I trust Maria so I dove in and I’m glad! I might not have read this novel otherwise and it’s really great. While it does demonstrate some antiquated gender roles, it’s sex positive and the heroine is a strong independent minded woman. Her love interest is also open minded and willing to let go of societal expectations. It’s been a super enjoyable read, I highly recommend it!
Something I did offline this week
I harvested our potatoes yesterday afternoon and was surprised to find we had so many. This is one of the three buckets full we have. It’s a good thing I love potatoes! (In case you’re wondering, my shirt says “Totally Sane Cat Lady”!)
Some things I’m grateful for this week
- Having kind, thoughtful friends
- Fall weather
- My home office because it’s a safe haven for me
- Football season
Something I’m looking forward to
The Halloween themed tasks and characters in PokemonGo.
Now tell me something that made you happy this week.
