Five Things Friday October 9, 2020
Here’s what I’ve been up to this week:
Something that made me happy this week
I adopted a new kitten from the shelter. I named her Olive, inspired by Elizabeth Strout’s novel Olive Kitteridge.

Something I read this week
This morning I finished my advanced copy of The Lost Love Song by Minnie Darke. This is the story of a love song. It follows the song through conception and out into the world. It’s a powerful look into how music affects and influences our hearts and minds. We meet different characters as they encounter the song all over the world. It’s written in the same style as her previous novel and movies like Love Actually. I enjoy this style a lot, especially as the different threads start to come together and we learn how the seemingly separate characters are connected.
Something I did off line this week
I’ve been taking pictures of Halloween decorations on my morning walks. I like seeing how people acknowledge holidays and watching the seasonal yard decorations change. Sometimes they startle me, like this guy!

Something I’m grateful for this week
A thoughtful care package from my dear friend Lea, including a book and some fun souvenirs from her recent trip to Key West. She knows that visiting the Hemingway House there is on my bucket list so she picked me up some fun things.

Something I’m looking forward to
- Rain in the forecast for this weekend
- Football Sunday
- Getting some Halloween candy
Now tell me something that made you happy this week.
