Five Things Friday: April 9, 2021
Hello and welcome to Five Things Friday! This has been a heck of a week for me. Here’s a look at what I’ve been up to:
Something that made me happy this week:
My husband and I both got our first COVID-19 vaccines.

Something I read this week:
I finished Hollywood and Park by Mikel Jollett. This memoir is my book club’s pick for April. It’s written in the first person, which is unique and creates a sense of urgency throughout the book. The author starts out narrating as a five year old, which I had a really hard time with. It doesn’t seem like the way a child that age would think and speak, and it really rubbed me the wrong way. But as Mikel ages, his narration matures and becomes more insightful and self aware. The last 30% of the book was the best and by the end I was in awe of his story and his writing skills.
Something I did offline this week:
I went to pick up some library books I’d had on hold that came in. I like using their curbside pickup service.

Something I’m grateful for:
Exchanging funny memes with friends. We joke that memes have become our love language in these times when we can’t hang out.

Something I’m looking forward to:
Having a take-out sushi dinner with my husband and sister-in-law.
