Something that made me happy this week.

My dad traveled to the area of Pennsylvania where I grew up, and he sent me two packages of my favorite donuts. I was incredibly excited when they showed up in the mail this week. I didn’t even care that they were melty from the heat and ate some right away!

Something I read this week.

Earlier this week, I finished Blow Your House Down by Gina Frangello. It’s easily one of the most uniquely powerful memoirs I’ve ever read. At the core of this memoir is the extramarital affair the author had with a married man. To me, this book was about what it means to not only to “be a woman” but to live in a woman’s body. The writing is strong and emotional, though a little dense at times. I highly recommend it for readers of memoir, particularly women. For my full thoughts on it, check out my Goodreads review.

Something I did offline this week.

I went to my first official post COVID gathering. A dear friend threw a garden party one evening this week. It was nice to see friendly faces and also a little overwhelming!

Something I’m grateful for this week.

My husband sent me this picture of my dogs waiting for me while I was at my friend’s party. I’m so grateful for these two, they’ve helped me get through some really tough times lately.

Something I’m looking forward to.

Volunteering at my library’s used book sale this weekend! The sales are some of my favorite events each year and I’ve missed them terribly since COVID.
