Five Things Friday: March 19, 2021
Hello and happy Friday! I’ve had emotionally intense week that used up all my energy and I didn’t get any posts up. I hate that, but I’m also trying to learn to give myself grace. Hopefully you didn’t notice the missing posts or at least weren’t heartbroken over them. Ha!
Something that made me happy this week:
March Madness started this week! Also, my little dog Tinsley was a great sport while I took some St. Patrick’s Day themed photos for my Bookstagram.
Something I read this week:
I read The Guest Room by Chris Bohjalian. I was expecting a pretty typical thriller and this was not that! It’s about a bachelor party gone awry, which always makes for a good story. Next to that story arc though, is the story of the young women who were “entertainers” at the party. It’s a heartbreaking story that shocked me at times. The writing is solid and emotional. Some of the content and language is harsh but it’s never gratuitous. Bohjalian is great at bringing humanity to his characters. I definitely recommend this one!
Something I did offline this week:
I went to a local thrift store I love that I hadn’t been to an over a year. They sell paperback books for fifty cents (hardcovers are only a buck!) I sat on the floor and dug through these shelves that are all two rows deep with books.
Something I’m grateful for this week:
Noticing how much better I feel physically and mentally when I’m getting regular exercise.
Something I’m looking forward to:
Basketball games all weekend!!
What made you happy this week?
