Five Things Friday November 6, 2020
Hello and welcome to the first Friday in November! I know it’s been a tough week for all of us, so here’s what I’ve been focusing on to stay positive:
Something that made me happy this week.
I’m always on the lookout for reading material for my father-in-law, so I responded to an add for free books on Facebook Marketplace. I ended up with more books than I expected and was able to pick a big stack for myself and still send him several boxes full!
Something I read this week.
I’m currently reading Bury My Heart at Chuck E. Cheese’s by Tiffany Midge. I sought out this essay collection after hearing her writing compared to that of David Sedaris. This is a funny, insightful essay collection about the life of modern Native Americans. She calls out stereotypes and writes some sharp satire pieces. I am loving it and highly recommend it.
Something I did offline this week.
Looking through the photos on my phone from this week, it doesn’t seem I did a lot offline! I take daily walks in my neighborhood with my dogs, watch football, and read.
Something I’m grateful for this week.
I’ve been attending Writer’s Digest’s virtual writing conference this week. Usually the conference is held in New York City each year, and while I’ve dreamed of attending the past few years, it’s not something I would do. Now Because of COVID, the conference is taking place online this year and I’m grateful for the opportunity to connect with other writers!
Some things I’m looking forward to.
- I’m really looking forward to final election results!
- The rest of Writer’s Digest Virtual conference this week.
- Book group discussion on Sunday
- Football on Sunday
Now tell me something that made you happy this week!
